Finding Inner Balance
Inner balance is a quality of being that we all wish for ourselves, yet often find the journey getting there very hard.
The pressure we experience in our busy lives plays a big role in this, and most of my clients approach me at a time when things start feeling overwhelming.
I have recently worked with a business owner in a high stress environment to support him on this path.
During this 8-week 1:1 engagement, we strengthened the ‘felt’ understanding of unique patterns of thinking and behaving that often keep us stuck in a place of imbalance. We then developed skills to work with challenges and difficulty from a place of calm, choice and intention, while not forgetting the importance of resourcing ourselves along the way.
Over the years of training and coaching people in mindfulness and resilience techniques and skills, I have come to learn that inner balance is truly a FELT sense of
✅ feeling well-resourced in terms of mood, motivation and energy level - vs. feeling depleted and exhausted
✅ seeing choices in how to relate to changes in our inner and outer environment - vs. being taken on a ride by the waves of change in our lives
✅ acting with intention and purpose - vs. following automatic habits and behaviours that may not serve us
I have also learnt that it’s so helpful to learn these resilience skills preventatively, rather than wait for feelings of overwhelm to creep in.
Every little step we take in
🌱 resourcing ourselves -
by engaging in what nourishes, energises and uplifts us (breaks, exercise, rest, outdoors, friends, reading, fun activities ..)
🧐 engaging in inner reflection
such as meditation, journaling, ..
builds a solid foundation for inner balance to thrive on.
