Sharing the stillness

It is often hard to establish a regular meditation practice .. to a point that it becomes as routined as brushing our teeth. One typically doesn't ask: should I brush my teeth today, or should I not?

Some of the guidelines we recommend as meditation teachers include:

1. Practicing at the same time everyday.
2. Starting small, say 5 minutes everyday, and gradually building-up time.
3. Placing the 'event' as a fixed entry in your calendar.

Aside to this, I also feel that joining a community that regularly practices together can really provide motivation and guidance, and can complement and reinforce your own home-practice.

Whether I am practicing with my students or my peers, I feel that sharing the stillness with others deeply confirms how interconnected we truly are, how we share what makes us human, with all our struggles and joys.
